If you compare this block with Jane's original, you'll notice they are different! I pieced everything larger, then I would square up each section. After adding the first round, I measured and squared up. Then added the second. When I went to square it up, it just didn't seem to be fitting right. I SQUARED UP THE FIRST ROUND A 1/2" BIGGER! I was going to unpick it, but my sweet daughter told me that it looked just fine the way it was. The only thing missing is the outer white border. I figure the sashing will add that! Anyway, hopefully, Jane will forgive me for deviating from her block. :-)
These are the things that make our baby janes our own! I have changed many a block either because I messed up or because the one in the book was not like the one on the quilt! If you read carefully the book says that Janes blocks were anywhere from 3 1/5 to 5 inches and we are adjusting them all to fit into the 4 1/2 inch block! So there is going to be some differences! I love the block and think you did a great job!!
